The Raconteurs - Liverpool Carling Academy - 20th March 2006

Went to the first ever Raconteurs gig in the world last night. It's Jack White's new side project band. Only knew two songs beforehand which
sounded awesome live, and the rest of the stuff sounded cool too. The ones that went down best were the more lively ones which is prob
expected when the crowd don't know the songs. Jack was awesome as always on the guitar. Looking forward to hearing the album now but
it's great to be able to say I was at their first ever gig. Had a sense of occassion to the event. The support act was 747s who were also pretty
dam good. Wouldn't mind hearing their album whenever they release one too.

NME have a review of the show as posted below:

The Raconteurs triumph on live debut in Liverpool
And Jack White speaks to NME.COM

Jack White's new band The Raconteurs triumphed on their live debut in Liverpool tonight (March 20).

And the star and fellow bandmates Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler spoke to NME.COM of their delight at finally getting
things off and running after their show at the Carling Academy.

The raucous sold-out crowd watched the Detroit pals, augmented by keyboard player and Benson band regular Dean Fertita, play all the tracks
from forthcoming debut album 'Broken Boy Soldiers', out May 15, as well as a new song, '5 On The 5', and two covers - Sixties psych legends
Love's 'A House Is Not A Motel' and Seventies rockers The Flamin' Groovies' 'Texas'.

Among the highlights were 'Steady, As She Goes', a recent limited edition single, which gets a full release on April 24. And there was a wildly
enthusiastic reception for the ballad 'Together', where a dressed-down Jack and Brendan shared vocal duties.

Speaking afterwards to NME.COM, the band said they were pleased with the show, and delighted to get things up and running at last.

Benson said, "The whole thing feels like one big highlight. It feels like phase one is over and now this is phase two of the whole thing. It's great to
get started."

White declared the evening "lovely and delicious" and said that there were more covers planned for the tour, adding: "We've done about 30
songs in rehearsal."

Benson added: "We wanted to do the Love song specially for Liverpool, because it seems like they're big fans here."

Speaking about the band's future, White joked they weren't looking too far ahead, adding: "We're hoping to make it to London by the end of the
week."

The band play the Astoria in the UK capital on Thursday (March 23), the final show on their short debut tour.

Tonight's set was:

'Level'
'Intimate Secretary'
'Hands'
'Steady, As She Goes'
'Together'
'This House Is Not A Motel'
'Store Bought Bones'
'Call It A Day'
'Yellow Sun'
'Broken Boy Soldier'
'5 On The 5'
'Blue Veins'
'Texas'

The Raconteurs' UK tour continues (March 21) in Newcastle.

aye it was a good gig

great value for money thanks to ebay! 7 quid each!

an ok venue. damn loud though. my right ear is still ringing now! (the next afternoon!)

the 747s were better than expected and the racountours were good but not quite as good as i expected after hearing their songs on the net.

their album should be good!

nice not havin to worry about too much traffic etc with it only being a thousand people.

the crowd didnt go as wild as i thought theyd go but i guess everyone needs to learn the songs.
