out of work at 2 :D
got ready
invited people to badminton, grand central preston and manchester
lost and found my mp3 player
train to the pool of liver
used my compass to find the swan :D
5 - 10 minute walk south from lime street station :P
got a pint n sat down
couple of minutes later, rob walked in :D
great timing!
he got a free train though! jammy git
my first time in the swan
plenty of pantera! nice
there mustve been a few turisas folk in there
we only stayed for half an hour or so though as I wanted some food
we headed towards the academy and I bought myself a large chicken tikka kebab and chips
very nice!
we went next door, into paddys irish bar as recommended by some fella off lastfm although it was full of old blokes!
i downed a blue aftershock shot and a JD and red bull? i cant remember haha
then we moved onto the next pub, cant remember the name. not bad. had a smirnoff ice i think. then on to the academy : ) tried to buy serj tankian tickets although they wouldnt let me use my card : ( i went to the cash machine in the station, came back and then the b*****s told me they're only for sale until 4pm! :O t***s
we went into the academy anyway, i put my jacket in the cloakroom and alestorm were soon on :D
they were fantastic although the sound settings weren't quite as I'd have wished for : (
the crowd loved em tho. i started off a few y'arrrrrrrr 's :D
i found one of their guitar picks on the floor later on! :D
i also aquired a sword and an axe :D
norther were ok. although i did get bored of them through a lot of their set :(
quite a long wait for turisas but it was well worth it!
they were fantastic!
great make up
lead singer wouldnt shut up talking in between songs LOL very funny
talking about the lights, how theyre good coz they dont give off as much heat as other lights, but he was a bit confused as he was still sweating haha
then he spoke about the aquarium haha. i guess he could see a tv screen with people watching the gig on telly haha
they had a competition / petition against people taking photos at their gigs so took a few photos of us haha
i loved the bits where they were all singing!
the blonde 17 year old accordian player chick was hot!
lead singer introducing the band took about 10 minutes lol
he described them as, beard man, teddy bear, small drummer and i cant remember the rest!
loads of people were dressed the part : )
if we dressed up, we wouldve got some funny looks in each of the pubs/kebab house that we went in before the gig though haha
rob did well to spot a few people!
couple off last fm although they seemed a bit busy talking to other peeps so we didnt interfere
we stayed around outside the venue after the gig for a bit to chat to some friendly folk that admired robs manowar patch!
i got one comment about my riverside t shirt :D it was off some foreign geeza so may have been in one of the bands! i dont know! lol ill have to look at my photos to see if i recognise him!
turisas had quite a long set and finished very early so we had chance to do stuff before going for the last train
although we didnt think that we might not be able to get seats!
the crowd was mainly lads as expected but of the few women that were there, most were very pretty!
we were nackered after the gig, didnt get a chance to sit down, not even on the 40 minute train home, then i had to buy some more water from the chippy near warrington central then get on with my 40 minute walk home
ate one of my bananas on the walk home
i mustve worried a few people with my sword and axe! lol oh well
a police car didnt stop me!
I'm nackered now!
work tomoro! best get some kip!
another great gig!
academy 2 is damn good!
bit smelly tonight though! they'll have to sort that out!
the beers are a bit pricey too!
cheers for the company rob!
wouldnt have been the same without ya!
enjoy your adventures in scotland!
Right, well.. Id been waiting for this one for ages! Vikings and pirates in one gig.. Cant beat that! The night started well with a free train ride, followed by a pint of guinness and some motorhead in the swan! not as busy as im used to in there, and no sign of any turisas fans either! but, we headed over to get some food.. to a bit of a dodgy looking kebab house, but it all turned out well! even if it was a little pricey! after that, the drinking really started with a quick pitstop at Paddys bar, for some JD and more guinness ;) decent looking pub! very green! as youd expect from an irish bar i suppose.. after a quick pint in the pub next door to there, we headed for a bit of cash before going to the gig.. And what a gog it was! got in and got some beers.. (good job i took that mortgage out in anticipation of the Academy bar prices!) Alestorm started shortly after so we went and had a sing along to "wenches and mead" and "Captain morgan's revenge" During which, the expensive beer ended up all over the floor! Great show these guys put on, look forward to seeing them again! After another trip to the bar, Norther came on, i wasnt familiar with these guys stuff.. but it sounded good to me! and the crowd seemed to like it! ..Turisas where up next, and having seen a short set at download while very hungover, i was eager to see them again. and what a fantastic show they put on! great crowd, lighting. and they played lots of the classics as well as some of the new stuff. lots of singing along and waving plastic weapons later. and unfortunately they came to the end of their set! a little earlier than we expected. but they finished off with their best song "Battle Metal" to which everyone (including us) went crazy for! All in all. one of the best gigs ive been to in quite a while! Afterwards we hung around for a bit, checked out the afterparty back in the academy.. that seemed alright! but we left pretty quickly and headed back for the train home. great night! lets hope they all play again soon!

Jim Connolly is a legend.
My first time in The Swan
Grand Central of Liverpool. Not a pub though. I heard it's just a slightly worse version of Afflex Palace.
