after a nice afternoon eating chicken and playing pool in grand central with Chris i jumped into Phills car and told him to ignore his sat nav and go the correct way to the GMEX lol

hell of a big venue compared to how i imagined it!

all big drinkers from what i could make of it though unfortunately
the crowd spoiled this gig for me in a way
anyway we just about made it in time for the "Manchester Orchestra" who weren't from Manchester, they were from somewhere in America, and they weren't an orchestra! to my dissapointment!
they were another middle of the road depressing and overrated indie band
i was glad when they came off stage to say the least
cue the rude, noisy drunks
so many people pushing in to get to the front at the last minute
and other simply elbowing or scraping my arms with bags!
who the hell brings a bag with a chain on to a gig?!
i felt sorry for those with jackets/coats who mustve been overheating!
from what i could see there wasnt a cloakroom so the british weather doesnt help when it comes to winter gigs
although a coat would've helped against the showers of urine being thrown!
it's f*cking disgusting! why the f*ck to oasis/arctic monkeys/kings of leon fans throw PISS!
i know it's a long way to the toilet, but they should go before the gig or even in between bands! or better simply drink less, or spirits rather than gallons of beer!
they shouldn't need to be sh*t faced to enjoy a gig!
to be fair though there were the odd nice members of the audience i.e. pretty young lady before the gig : )
anyway the kings of leon were great
i definitely prefer their older material
they were on form tonight and they played most of my favourites although i really wouldve liked a longer set!
somehow my shoe-lace came undone as we were exiting the building and i was constantly getting tripped up : (
we even had trouble getting a lift home as the sat nav didnt work / steve got lost plus his phone was breaking up lol!
what a mess!
i'm really appreciating the smaller venues much more because of gigs like this!
far too many drunks and inconsiderate tw*ts in the audience :(
maybe i'm a touch negative with this review but I had such an amazing night at Porcupine Tree last night, it just seemed to easy to compare to!
