hey phill
it was chuckin it town with rain
straight to wa1
very busy upstairs
new red pool table :D
why werent wa1 serving pints downstairs?
the bluetones were very good but even though it wasnt the regular wa1 crowd, there was the regular quiet crowd between songs :s i cant believe i forgot that it was them who did "Slight return" lol such a nice surprise when they started playing it! great for them to come to Warrington :D
why were the speakers messing up tonight?
why didnt any of the techies notice it?
why was i the only one to tell the techies about it?
I was surprised to hear the kingsway slag off exile parade.
why was the upstairs cd player skipping like crazy?
why dont they have a laptop with all the music on?
so many questions so few answers!
i was surprised at how many wa1 regulars didnt go to the bluetones gig!
although it was a bit expensive!
nice to see matt, grant, cat, fiona, jay, amy, christine, lomax, phil, kieran, bob, helen, dionne, luce, and the nice young ladies on the pool table / dance floor : )
i didnt drink much but had a good time. especially dancin to muse and queens of the stone age (when the cd player stopped skipping) lol
Phills review
Bluetones & The Kingsways - WA1 - 17th Nov 2007
Wow an early start at WA1.... and what a packed crowd!
Never see it so busy before
WA1 screwing us over by taking the 3 for £6 drink off when the gig was on..... only to put it back on after lol. Nice cold pints though.
Kingsways hit the stage. Good to see em in WA1. They dont play enough gigs there. Very stone roses like yet again. Was pretty dodgy that they slagged off Exile parade and I saw two members of that band in WA1 on the same night! They also shared the stage at the warrington fesitval.
Wow I had to hold a spot in WA1 lol. I managed to get a decentish spot near the front. Was a pain to get a good view for first few songs but got settled eventually.
Bluetones were surprisingly still very young. Front man was very good interacting with the crowd. Loved my neighbours house and of course Slight return ("the song the cab drivers know us by"). Was funny when they said this was the point they normally go off the stage and chill out in a backroom, but they would have to just stand at side of the stage in WA1 which would be daft lol
Yay they have moved the rock music to the top floor. Much more logical and some top tunes tonight - charlatans, happy mondays, queens of the stone age, rolling stones, muse. Some nice surprises on the 2nd floor too - wombats, pigeon detectices. Seemed a lot of the regulars were back in for the music after the band but most of the bluetones crowd had left.
Just shows that if u get a good known band to the WA1 or warrington then the crowd will be there. WA1 must have earnt a lot that night!
