| Met up with Gem n Wez for 2 pints, a burger and chips and a good natter Then Phill found me in Warrington Central Station and we headed off to Liverpool for Ash A good chat with Phill on the longer than expected train to liverpool Put my jacket in the cloakroom We just about got there in time for the dead 60s i think they were called They were pretty good Nowhere near as good as ASH though :D Ash have some fairly average songs but some great live ROCK tunes The Liverpool Carling Academy 1 was a bit hot but thankfully I managed to smuggle in my water bottle Good venue for photos :D (good lighting) Good sound system too :D I think 3 man bands work very well together Each member seems to have a greater importance and so the songs seem better i think than some overcrowded bands The bassist especially has a great stage presence Phills review Ash - Saturday 20th October Just got back. Cracking gig. Saw them in Manchester earlier this year and like how they have reshuffled set list and added some different songs so it isnt the same set were saw then. The stage set up was pretty cool. Like bare "trees" to match the album artwork. Was the first ever live performance of Dark and Stormy. Very cool bassline in that tune :-) I was so glad they threw Clones back in the set! Kung Fu is probably better being in the encore, but Twilight of the innocents is such a fantastic close to the gig! The main one I missed from the show earlier this year was Petrol, but they added many new great tunes to the set. Still hope I get to hear Meltdown live but I guess that's unlikely now!
Really hope Twilight Of The Innocents becomes a set staple for many years. Such an awesome tune. |
